Two people killed in morning crash in West Sacramento, police say

Two people were killed when their car crashed in West Sacramento, police officials said Sunday.

The wreck occurred around 7:18 a.m. at 15th Street and Jefferson Boulevard. Authorities closed the roadway for several hours as emergency personnel and investigators worked the scene, according to a post by the West Sacramento Police Department.

“Despite the best efforts of first responders and medical personnel, we are saddened to confirm that two individuals have tragically passed away due to their injuries,” West Sacramento Police Department posted on its Facebook page. “Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones affected by this devastating loss.”

The cause of the crash remained under investigation. The last emergency crews left the area around 1 p.m., dispatchers said.
