Yuba-Sutter fireworks rescheduled — officials find new vendor after Esparto explosion

The annual Yuba-Sutter Fourth of July fireworks show will go on — one day later than planned — following the deadly warehouse explosion in Esparto that destroyed pyrotechnics intended for the bi-county celebration.

Officials said Wednesday that the celebration was rescheduled for Saturday at Beckwourth Riverfront Park in Marysville, with the fireworks display set to begin between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m.

The event, a joint tradition between Marysville and Sutter County, had been canceled earlier Wednesday after a fire incinerated pyrotechnics at a storage facility in Yolo County. The fireworks were supplied by Devastating Pyrotechnics, a San Francisco-based company that had long partnered with the Yuba-Sutter celebration.

“In light of the recent tragic incident ... this decision was made after thoughtful discussion and out of respect for those impacted,” officials said in the second joint release.

A new vendor, Pyro Spectaculars — based in Rialto with offices at McClellan Park near Sacramento — has been secured to supply the show.

The community is invited to gather along the Feather River for what officials described as a “respectful and safe evening.” Residents are encouraged to arrive early, bring lawn chairs or blankets, and enjoy the park ahead of the show.

“Our commitment to community unity, reflection and celebration remains unchanged,” officials said in the statement.

The Tuesday night explosion in Esparto destroyed multiple structures and set off spot fires after igniting a cache of pyrotechnics meant for demonstrations by licensed operators. Officials said seven people remained unaccounted for, and the Office of the State Fire Marshal’s arson and bomb unit was investigating.
