A vandalized Regional Transit train crossing briefly disrupted traffic Tuesday in Sacramento’s midtown and Curtis Park neighborhoods before repairs were completed.

The malfunction occurred near Broadway and 19th Street, where crossing arms were stuck in the down position shortly before 11:45 a.m., blocking vehicles. Similar issues were reported on W and X streets, where gates also dropped, causing significant backups.

Sacramento Regional Transit officials said light rail service was not affected. RT spokesperson Jessica Gonzalez said the disruption stemmed from vandalism that damaged the crossing arm power system, requiring crews to conduct on-site repairs.

The situation has since been resolved.
