Fuzzy the bear appeared ready for customers when deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office arrived in the wee hours of Sunday morning, standing behind the counter at the Ice Cream Parlor at Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe and looking for all the world like he or she was ready to offer up a scoop.

The shop would have been closed, according to the hours posted on its website, but Fuzzy was able to score some strawberry ice cream before heading out, the Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday on its Facebook page.

The post included two pictures of Fuzzy, who has reddish brown fur, and numerous puns.

“The deputies could barely believe their eyes,” the post said. Fuzzy caused “barely any damage,” it added.

Commenters noted that they also liked strawberry ice cream.

“One scoop or two?” quipped one Facebook poster. “That’s totally me getting a snack in the middle of the night,” declared another.

Neither the Sheriff’s Office nor the Ice Cream Parlor immediately responded to a request for comment about the incident.

But the sheriff’s Facebook post did note that Fuzzy eventually left with their encouragement, and that “there was barely any cleanup.”
