Roseville water main break shuts Main Street between Fremont and Vallejo

A water main break early Thursday forced the closure of Main Street between Fremont Street and Vallejo Avenue in Roseville and temporarily cut service to about 30 homes, city officials said.

Roseville police shut down the roadway just after 12:30 a.m. after the break flooded several streets, including Main, Fremont, and Vallejo between Main and Grove streets.

City crews worked through the morning to repair the underground line. The cause of the break had not been determined by midday Thursday.

Water service was restored to affected homes by early afternoon, according to the City of Roseville’s Utilities Department.

Main Street remained closed Thursday afternoon between Fremont and Vallejo as cleanup and road restoration continued. Officials said the closure would remain in effect for an extended period and advised drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.
