Will it cool down the last week of summer? Here’s the forecast for Sacramento

Weather update

It’s officially the last week of summer and fall is right around the corner.

The autumn equinox usually begins between Sept. 21 and Sept. 24 and that’s typically a time for cooler temperatures with Halloween just ahead.

But the Sacramento area still has a ways to go before cooler temperatures arrive as the final week of the summer continues the theme of the season. In short, it’ll be hot practically all week.

According to the National Weather Service Sacramento, Sunday saw a high near 88 degrees with light and variable winds.

The temperature will drop to around 60 degrees with calm winds during the night.

Here’s the weather forecast through Sept. 20, according to NWS Sacramento.

Monday is predicted to see a high near 93 degrees with light, variable winds.

As night falls, the temperature will dip to around 64 degrees. Monday evening will bring clear skies and a calm wind, the weather forecast said.

Tuesday will be “sunny and hot,” according to the weather service. High temperatures near 97 degrees are expected, accompanied by light and variable winds, with temperatures decreasing to 64 degrees at night.

Look for the same Wednesday with highs near 97 degrees, falling to around 65 at night.

Daytime temperatures will drop slightly by Thursday with a high near 92 on a day that’s expected to be mostly sunny. Partly cloudy skies and a low around 63 degrees are expected Thursday evening.

Temperatures will likely drop below 90 degrees in time for the weekend, as we inch closer to autumn. Friday will be sunny with a high near 87. At night, the temperature will hit a low of 63 degrees.

There’s a slight chance of showers Saturday, a day when the expected high is 84 degrees, the forecast said.
