Big rig crash disrupted westbound Interstate 80 traffic in Placer County
An early morning crash involving an overturned big rig Tuesday disrupted westbound traffic on Interstate 80 in Placer County.
The incident near West Paoli Lane was reported around 3:50 a.m., when the semi-truck overturned while traveling westbound on I-80. The CHP’s incident log shows that the semi’s 76,000-pound load had turned over and blocked both lanes and the on-ramp at West Paoli.
By 7:18 a.m., CHP Gold Run officials said the fast lane had fully reopened after they had issued a SigAlert for about three hours because of the full closure. Authorities are still urging motorists to avoid the route through the morning as crews worked to upright the big rig and clear debris. Caltrans reopened the lanes and ramps about noon.
The cause of the crash was under investigation, but no injuries were reported.
