Roadway fatality

A motorist was killed Wednesday when their car collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 50 near Howe Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol’s South Sacramento office.

California Highway Patrol dispatchers alerted officers to the 9:30 a.m. crash on eastbound Highway 50 west of Howe Avenue. Officers found the vehicles on the highway’s center divider, a gray Chevrolet Corvette stuck underneath the larger semi-trailer, according to CHP dispatch logs.

Emergency responders freed the car’s driver, the CHP’s logs showed, but the motorist later died at the scene.

CHP officers reopened all lanes of eastbound Highway 50 just before noon Wednesday, according to dispatchers.
