71-year-old man dies after head-on crash in Yuba County, CHP says

Roadway fatality

A 71-year-old man died Friday evening in a Yuba County head-on vehicle crash, authorities said.

The man, a resident of Plumas Lake, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck south on Feather River Boulevard south of Myrna Avenue on Friday evening, between Yuba City and Marysville, according to a California Highway Patrol news release.

For unknown reasons, the driver drifted over the line into oncoming traffic and was hit by another vehicle, a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck, the CHP release said. He died at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the second vehicle were transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, the release said.

The Yuba County Coroner’s office has not yet released the identify of the deceased man.

The CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office is investigating the incident, but authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol were a factor, the release said.
