Where can I vote in the Sacramento area? Drop off my ballot? See interactive map

As the 2025 statewide special election nears, Sacramento-area voters may be wondering how to cast their ballots.

Californians will decide whether to vote “yes” or “ no” on Proposition 50, which seeks to redraw boundaries for many of the GoldenState’s congressional districts.

Registered California voters have until 8 p.m. on Election Day — Tuesday, Nov. 4 — to turn in their ballots.

Whether you plan to vote in person or drop off your ballot, here’s how to ensure your vote is counted:

Is it too late to mail my ballot?

Voters in some parts of California could see delays in ballot collection due to a recent U.S. Postal Service policy change.

“In many parts of California, recent changes in the U.S. Postal mail service mean that your ballot may not be counted if you drop it off at a post office or a USPS mailbox on Election Day,” California Attorney General Rob Bonta said in a Oct. 2 news release.

In other words, mail-in ballots sent from areas more than 50 miles away from one of California’s six regional mail processing centers might not be postmarked the same day they’re mailed, The Sacramento Bee previously reported.

In Northern California, there are two centers — one in West Sacramento and another in Richmond.

The Postal Service previously advised all voters voting by mail to do so a week before the election, or by Oct. 28.

Ballots received at the polls or by mail in the week after Election Day — as long as they are postmarked by Tuesday, Nov. 4 — will be counted after Election Day, according to San Luis Obispo County Clerk-Recorder Elaina Cano.
