A man was struck by a car and killed Monday evening in a South Sacramento intersection, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

The collision occurred just before 6:30 p.m. at Sheldon Road and Butterscotch Way. Officers responding to the scene found the man with life-threatening injuries. Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
