Roseville, Antelope residents may hear siren test at nearby rail yard
Residents near the Union Pacific rail yard in Roseville may hear a loud siren at noon Wednesday as the railroad conducts a scheduled test of its emergency notification system, according to the Roseville Fire Department.
The brief test is part of routine safety measures and is not related to an active emergency, fire officials said in a public advisory. The siren system is designed to alert the surrounding community in the event of an incident at the J.R. Davis rail yard that could pose a public safety risk.
The Roseville Fire Department encouraged residents to register for Placer Alert, the county’s official emergency notification service. The system delivers real-time updates by text, phone or email but requires registration at www.placer-alert.org.
Residents in nearby Antelope and Orangevale are encouraged to use Sacramento County’s alert system for information in times of emergency.
