Bicyclist killed after hitting a pole in Rancho Cordova identified by coroner
A bicyclist died Saturday morning after hitting a pole near a busy Rancho Cordova intersection, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was pronounced dead by emergency crews after he crashed into a pole on his bicycle around the intersection of Mather Field Road and International Drive, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Sgt. Amar Gandhi. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District call logs indicate the incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. Saturday.
Emergency crews reportedly attempted life-saving measures on the man at the scene. Gandhi said the bicyclist was pronounced dead before 9:30 a.m.
On Monday, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Michael J. Caballero Sr., 66, of Rancho Cordova.
