Man reported missing in North Sacramento injured after being struck by car
A 61-year-old man reported missing Saturday morning in North Sacramento was later identified as the pedestrian critically injured in a vehicle collision Friday night, according to Sacramento police.
David Zoellner, who has medical and mental health conditions and had been considered at-risk, was reported missing around 8 a.m. Saturday near the 3000 block of Marysville Boulevard in the Hagginwood neighborhood.
Police confirmed Sunday evening that Zoellner had been located and transported to a hospital after being struck by a vehicle around 9:30 p.m. Friday near Rio Linda Boulevard and Ford Road. He remained in critical but stable condition, authorities said.
The driver involved in the collision stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, Sacramento police spokesperson Officer Allison Smith said. Investigators said impairment from drugs or alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
Police initially requested the public’s help locating Zoellner due to concerns for his health. That advisory has since been canceled.
Anyone with additional information about the collision is asked to contact the Sacramento Police Department’s dispatch center at 916-808-5471.
