Midtown Farmers Market canceled Saturday due to weekend weather, flood watch
Organizers have canceled Saturday’s Midtown Farmers Market as weekend storms are expected to bring strong winds and heavy rain to the Sacramento region.
In a statement, the Midtown Association said the cancellation was “made in the interest of public, vendor, and staff safety” after wind conditions exceeded the market’s “established safety threshold.”
The farmers market — which spans five blocks center on 20th and K streets — had planned to celebrate its most recent growth into the WEAVE parking lot on Saturday. It’s part of its new “circular retail” expansion.
The association said in a news release that the expansion is “designed to support its continuing sustainability efforts by emphasizing the importance of recycling, upcycled products, and sustainable business practices.”
Sacramento and the surrounding region remains under a flood watch until Monday at 5 p.m. The National Weather Service said the capital region is forecast to get isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds on Saturday and Sunday. And rainfall is expected to reach between 1½ and 2½ inches.
