Pedestrian dies of injuries after Folsom Boulevard collision, says CHP

Pedestrian fatality

A pedestrian died at a hospital from injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Folsom Boulevard in the La Riviera section of Sacramento County on Friday morning, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The collision happened just before 7 a.m. when a vehicle traveling east on Folsom Boulevard struck the pedestrian near Tiber Drive, said Officer Angie Monroe, a CHP spokesperson. The pedestrian was reportedly crossing Folsom Boulevard outside of a crosswalk when they were struck, Monroe said.

Firefighters took the pedestrian to UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, where the person later died. Sacramento County coroner’s officials said they will release the person’s identity after notifying next of kin.

The driver stayed at the scene and cooperated with officers, Monroe said. Neither alcohol nor drugs were determined to be factors in the collision.
