Woman killed in Citrus Heights SUV crash identified as woman from Fair Oaks

Roadway fatality

A 33-year-old woman has been identified as the driver whose SUV collided with a utility pole early Sunday morning in Citrus Heights.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman Monday as Mia Miskic of Fair Oaks.

Citrus Heights police said the crash occurred around 1:54 a.m. near Greenback Lane and Dewey Drive. Officers were alerted after receiving an automated crash notification from Miskic’s SUV.

When officers arrived, they found the vehicle had struck a utility pole. Miskic was unresponsive, and officers began lifesaving efforts until Sacramento Metro Fire transported her to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Traffic investigators with the Citrus Heights Police Department said preliminary information indicated alcohol may have been a factor, though the investigation remained ongoing. Visibility in the area, according to National Weather Service gauges, was about a quarter-mile at the time of the crash due to fog.

Anyone who witnessed the crash or had information about events leading up were urged to contact the Police Department’s traffic unit at 916-727-5500.
