Man fixing flat tire killed in Elk Grove hit-and-run. Police search for driver

hit and run fatality

Elk Grove police are looking for the driver who fatally struck a man roadside late Tuesday as he changed a flat tire.

The 61-year-old man was fixing the flat on Bruceville Road near Bilby Road and Boa Nova Drive in the southern half of the city about 8 p.m. when he was struck. The man later died at a local hospital, said officials in a statement.

Police say the suspect vehicle is a Dodge pickup truck with likely front passenger side damage.

The collision and investigation closed Bruceville Road between Bilby Road and Boa Nova for about an hour before the road was reopened, said police.

Sacramento County coroner’s officials will release the man’s name after next of kin are notified.

Anyone with information is asked to call Elk Grove Police Department at 916-478-8000.
