A 26-year-old Los Angeles man died in a skiing accident near Northstar California Resort in Truckee, authorities confirmed Thursday.

The man was identified as Nicholas Kenworthy, 26, the Placer County Sheriff’s Office said. The Placer County coroner’s unit responded to the resort shortly after 12:30 p.m. Feb. 6. Authorities did not release details about the type of accident or the injuries Kenworthy sustained.

Northstar officials in a statement said its ski patrol responded to Martis Trail, an advanced trail at the resort, before transferring the man’s care to Truckee Fire Department, who pronounced Kenworthy deceased.

Martis Trail is accessible by the Martis Camp Express lift. The Martis Camp Lodge at the base of the lift is a private, members-only facility.

“Northstar California Resort, Northstar Ski Patrol, and the entire Vail Resorts family extend our deepest sympathy and support to our guest’s family, loved ones, and friends,” said Tara Schoedinger, Northstar vice president and general manager, in a statement.
