Woman dead in Yuba train collision on Highway 65 near Wheatland

A woman died early Tuesday when her car collided with a train on Highway 65 near Wheatland in Yuba County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers from the CHP’s Yuba-Sutter office were called to the 2:13 a.m. crash on Highway 65 north of Dairy Road in unincorporated Yuba County. They found a Toyota Prius with extensive rollover damage next to a stopped Union Pacific freight train.

Officers then discovered the body of a woman, identified only as a 58-year-old, the CHP said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Yuba County coroner’s officials will release the woman’s name after notifying next of kin.

The crash remains under investigation.
