El Dorado Hills project nears 200 lots as county approves 50 more homes
A large subdivision under construction in El Dorado Hills took another step forward this week.
The El Dorado County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved 50 additional residential lots Tuesday for the development, called East Ridge Village, near the corner of Valley View and Blackstone parkways. That brings the total number of approved lots to 197, adding to the 147 lots approved in December.
County officials approved a tentative plan in 2015 that allows up to 700 homes on the 734-acre property.
Supervisor George Turnboo, who represents the area, said some residents near the construction site have complained of dust and debris.
“I think we need to make sure on dust control,” Turnboo said during Tuesday’s board meeting. “I know they pulled an air pollution permit ... with the burn piles there, it’s going to impact the residents who live on Blackstone (Parkway). I don’t understand why (they) can’t chip a lot of that instead of burning it. Who monitors this?”
Rob Peters, the county’s deputy director of planning, said the California Department of Transportation oversees construction of the new roads, while the Sacramento Air Quality Management District oversees dust mitigation efforts. The county also meets regularly with the developer, he said.
Residents also complained about construction happening on a Sunday, in violation of an agreement the developer made with the county, Turnboo said. Peters said that issue has since been resolved.
The applicant for the development’s final maps is Valley View Improvement Co., and Lennar Homes of California is the home builder, said Carla Hass, a county spokesperson.
