Multiple units involved in Rancho Cordova apartment complex fire
A fire broke out at an apartment complex in Rancho Cordova on Saturday morning, affecting four units in the building, Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District officials said.
The fire started at the Cordova Village Apartments on Mills Tower Drive around 9:30 a.m., Metro Fire spokesperson Capt. Mark Nunez said.
Nunez said there were no reported injuries. The fire started on a first-floor unit and spread to three second-story units and the attic due to strong wind, he said.
More than a dozen Metro Fire vehicles responded to the scene, which Nunez said came as fire crews braced for the fire to spread further with the wind. The National Weather Service’s Sacramento office in a social media post said breezy north to east winds were expected Saturday morning through afternoon.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, Nunez said. The American Red Cross is assisting the residents displaced by the fire, he said.
