Here are California’s best high schools. Where do Sacramento-area schools fall?
Several Sacramento-area campuses score highly on the U.S. News & World Report Best High Schools rankings for 2025-2026, the publication said.
Ten Sacramento-area public high schools ranked among the top 250 of more than 1,600 public school campuses ranked by the publication.
In all, the report reviewed more than 24,000 schools across the United States, ranking them “based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college.”
Graduation rates and college readiness were two of the criteria.
College readiness measured the percentage of 12th graders from the class of 2022-2023 who took at least one advanced placement or international baccalaureate exam by the end of their senior year and the percentage of 12th graders who earned a qualifying score on at least one AP or IB exam in high school, U.S. News said.
