Sacramento region nonprofits raise record amount for Big Day of Giving
The Big Day of Giving supporting Sacramento area nonprofits raised a record $15.4 million this year.
The annual event has been a Sacramento region tradition since its launch by the Sacramento Region Community Foundation in 2013 with the idea of providing financial support to organizations dedicated to improving the region.
This Big Day of Giving’s record number of donations this year exceeded last year’s total by $1.6 million.
With Thursday’s totals included, the event has now raised more than $132 million for local nonprofits according to Kerry Wood, the foundation’s chief executive officer, who provided an email update Friday.
A total of 29,000 donors and 886 organizations serving El Dorado, Placer, Sacramento, and Yolo counties were involved in this year’s event.
