A motorcyclist who was struck by a vehicle Monday in the Northgate section of Sacramento has died, authorities announced Thursday.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Trevon Hayes, 31, of Sacramento.

Hayes died of blunt force injuries after the crash near Northgate Boulevard and Bridgeford Drive, according to the Coroner’s Office.

Sacramento police said officers responded to the collision shortly after 10:30 a.m. Monday. Hayes was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

The accident is being investigated as criminal in nature, according to Coroner’s Office records, but no arrests have been announced. Police said Monday that the driver remained at the scene and that drugs and alcohol did not appear to be factors in the collision.
