Pedestrian struck and killed on Florin Road in south Sacramento crash, CHP says

Pedestrian fatality

Officers are investigating a collision that killed a pedestrian early Friday in south Sacramento, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The fatal collision happened about 2:35 a.m. on eastbound Florin Road just west of Florin Perkins Road. CHP South Sacramento officials said a male pedestrian was in the eastbound lane when he was struck. It was not known whether he was trying to cross the roadway, CHP officials said.

The driver was unable to see the man before the collision, according to the CHP. The driver immediately pulled to the roadside after striking the pedestrian and called 911. Emergency responders pronounced the man dead at the scene.

The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will release the man’s name after notifying next of kin.

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be factors in the collision, CHP officials said.
