South Sacramento pedestrian killed in early morning Stockton Boulevard crash

A pedestrian was killed Wednesday morning after being struck by a vehicle in south Sacramento.

According to Officer Allison Smith, a spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department, police responded to the crash just after 4 a.m. on the 5500 block of Stockton Boulevard in the city’s Lawrence Park neighborhood and closed the road between Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive.

The driver, who stayed on the scene, did not appear to be under the influence. Sacramento Fire Department personnel pronounced the pedestrian, an adult male, dead at the scene.

The Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Unit and Crime Scene Investigators are investigating the cause of the crash, Smith said.

Stockton Boulevard reopened just after 8:30 a.m.
