Boys in orchard find man who was killed in e-motobike crash near Yuba City
A 30-year-old man was killed in an electric motorbike crash Sunday in an orchard north of Yuba City near Tierra Buena and Eager roads.
The man had been dead for several hours before two juveniles found him in the orchard and called their father, who contacted 911 shortly before 9:30 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol’s Yuba-Sutter office.
Officers responding to the area were directed to the crash scene from Nuestra Road and found the man, who was wearing a helmet, ejected from a white e-moto near a well pump, CHP Officer Brandon Rains said.
Tall vegetation surrounding the crash site obscured the scene from the roadway, Rains said.
Investigators determined drugs and alcohol were not factors in the crash. The cause of the collision remained under investigation.
The identity of the rider was expected to be released by the Yuba County Sheriff’s Office coroner’s division once relatives are notified of his death.
