Sacramento Zoo wants community input on expansion plans. How to weigh in

Do you have strong beliefs about the Sacramento Zoo’s proposed expansion plan in William Land Park? Zoo officials are hearing them out tonight.

As the Sacramento Zoo continues petitioning the city for more than 5 additional acres of space from Land Park, it is collecting community input and feedback in the months leading up to a city council meeting to consider the expansion proposal.

On Wednesday night, the zoo will open its entrance plaza and lawn to community members in an “informal opportunity for conversation regarding the proposed expansion,” according to the zoo’s website. The community input open house is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Guests providing feedback may drop in at any time during the scheduled feedback period.

People who cannot make it to the open house may also fill out an online survey to share their thoughts and feedback on the growth proposal. Another community input session is scheduled for the evening of July 15, according to the zoo website.

In its expansion proposal timeline, the zoo indicates its public input period will be complete by Aug. 1, and Sacramento City Council will meet to consider the proposal on Sept. 1.
