Player wins five-figure Powerball prize in Roseville as jackpot nears $500 million

A Powerball ticket sold in Roseville fell just one number short of winning the $480 million jackpot, lottery officials said.

Instead, the lucky ticket won $33,286.

The ticket matched four winning numbers and the Powerball in the drawing Monday, July 13, the California State Lottery said.

California adjusts lottery prizes based on the number of tickets sold and number of winners.

Where was winning Powerball ticket sold in California?

The lucky ticket was sold at an Arco AM/PM station at 1930 Blue Oaks Blvd in Roseville, near Sacramento, lottery officials said.

What were winning numbers in Monday’s drawing?

The winning numbers were 5, 25, 36, 40 and 48 with a Powerball of 3.

The Power Play multiplier was 2x.

A ticket sold in Virginia won $1 million.

What is the Powerball jackpot up to now?

Nobody won the jackpot, which now rises to an estimated $498 million, with a cash value of about $221 million, for the next drawing Wednesday, July 15, the national Powerball site said.

Nearly 500,000 other Powerball tickets sold in the United States also won prizes ranging from $4 to $100,000, the lottery said. There were more than 60,000 winners in California.

The Powerball jackpot was last won May 2, when players from Florida and Texas hit the $20 million jackpot.

How to play Powerball lottery game

To score a jackpot in Powerball, a player must match all five white balls and the red Powerball.

The odds of scoring the jackpot prize are 1 in 292,201,338.

Tickets can be bought on the day of the drawing, but sales times and price vary by state.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

Powerball drawings are broadcast Saturdays, Mondays and Wednesdays at 7:59 p.m. Pacific Time and can be streamed online.

The next drawing will be Wednesday, July 15.
