$3.66 million contract to widen Roseville Parkway up for City Council vote

Roseville news

The Roseville City Council is expected to decide Wednesday whether to approve a $3.66 million contract for the first phase of traffic improvements on Roseville Parkway.

City staff recommended awarding the contract to Central Valley Engineering & Asphalt Inc. for the project.

Council members will also consider adding $1.75 million to the project budget to fully fund construction. The money would come from previously approved development and traffic mitigation funds, not the city’s General Fund.

The first phase of the project will widen sections of Roseville Parkway between West Drive and Creekside Ridge Drive.

It will also add a third left-turn lane for drivers turning from southbound Pleasant Grove Boulevard onto eastbound Roseville Parkway. Other work includes upgrading traffic signals, improving sidewalks, curbs and gutters, adding new pavement markings and signs, and making utility adjustments.

Construction is expected to begin this summer and be completed by early 2027.

If the project is approved, the City Council would also authorize the City Manager’s Office to sign the construction contract and approve change orders of up to 10% of the contract value, if needed.

Roseville spokesperson Helen Dyda said the city was taking a phased approach to help manage costs, reduce construction impacts and better plan the improvements.

During the first phase, crews will add and extend turn lanes at the Pleasant Grove Boulevard and Galleria Boulevard intersections and build an additional lane between Creekside Ridge Drive and Galleria Boulevard.

City officials said the improvements would ease traffic while preparing the corridor for the next stage of the project.

The second phase will include larger changes by converting some merge lanes into full travel lanes along Roseville Parkway.

City officials said those improvements would increase road capacity and improve traffic flow through one of Roseville’s busiest corridors.
