Thermometer drops a bit

The triple-digit temperature streak is expected to end today as the high temperature in Sacramento is forecast to reach near 96 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. That’s seven degrees above normal for a typical Sept. 12 in the city, the weather service reports.

Food literacy fair at McClatchy Park

The Fruit-to-Root Food Literacy Fair is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon at McClatchy Park, 3500 Fifth Ave., Sacramento. The free event features the Oak Park Farmers Market, food trucks, vegetable petting zoo, cooking demonstrations, music and more.

Suds flow at Sacramento events

The California Craft Beer Summit Expo continues until 3 p.m. at Sacramento Convention Center, 1400 J St. The Brewers Showcase Beer Festival takes place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Capitol Mall. For details, go to www.californiacraftbeer.com.

Public Safety Day in Davis

The Davis Police Department sponsors Public Safety Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the back parking lot of the department, 2600 Fifth St. The free event includes demonstrations of the department’s motorcycles (11:45 a.m.), K-9 unit (12:30 p.m.) and SWAT team (1:15 p.m.)

Things to do

  • The St. Anthony Parish Annual Fall Festival features international food booths from cuisines of the world, family games, live entertainment and raffle prizes. There is free entry for the celebration, from noon to 9 p.m. at the parish, 660 Florin Road, Sacramento.
  • The 26th Annual Polish Festival serves up homemade foods like such as pierogies (potato-cheese filled dumplings), golabki (cabbage rolls), Polish kielbasa (sausage) and hundreds of servings of potato pancakes and Polish pastries. There will also be a polka band, folk music and dancers at the gathering, scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. at the Polish American Club, 327 Main St., Roseville.
  • The fundraising Wilton Chili Cook-off and Classic Car Show takes place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Fog Willow Farms, 11011 Cecatra Drive, Wilton. Sponsored by the Wilton Fire Department, the event raises money for the community.
