A high of 90 degrees is forecast for Monday in Sacramento, which is five degrees above normal for late September. Temperatures are expected to drop into the low 80s by Wednesday.

Affordable housing meeting at Sierra 2 Center

Community development professionals and area officials gather for the Sacramento Regional Affordable Housing Summit from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Sierra 2 Center, 2791 24th St., Sacramento. The gathering seeks to bolster advocacy and promote efforts working toward improving access to affordable housing in the region. Those scheduled to take part include state Sen. Richard Pan, D-Sacramento, West Sacramento Mayor Christopher Cabaldon, Sacramento County supervisors Phil Serna and Patrick Kennedy, Yolo County Supervisor Don Saylor and Sacramento City Council members Steve Hansen and Jay Schenirer.

Disaster preparedness town hall

A town-hall meeting on disaster preparedness is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. at H. Allen Hight Elementary School, 3200 N. Park Drive, Sacramento. Attendees can learn what to do in the event of an emergency and go home with a plan. There will be exhibits, demonstrations and brochures from the following agencies: the Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, Reclamation District 1000, Sacramento Police Department, Sacramento Fire Department, Animal Care Services, Natomas Unified School District, Community Development Department and the Department of Utilities.

Workshops focus on El Dorado transportation plans

El Dorado County is holding workshops to discuss an update to the West Slope Transportation Capital Improvement Program and Traffic Impact Mitigation Fee Program. The workshops let the public comment on draft information for the fee program, which will pay the county’s share of the costs of roadway and bridge improvements for new development. Workshops are scheduled from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at El Dorado Hills Fire Station 85, 1050 Wilson Blvd., and from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at 2441 Headington Road, Placerville.
