Accomplishment: Studio named in honor of the dancer-choreographer
Details: The performance studio in Nelson Hall will bear Davidson’s name. She was a faculty member from 2001 until her death in March 2012. Davidson started her career as a ballet dancer in New York. An endowment fund to develop student choreographers is being created in her name.
Kudos to: Sacramento County Supervisor Phil Serna and the band UnSupervised
Accomplishment: Raised $50,000 for Wind Youth Services
Details: Thanks to the support of sponsors and ticket sales to a Sacramento performance of Serna’s band UnSupervised, $50,000 will go to Wind, which provides homeless and other at-risk youths with a safety net. Wind programs include short-term shelter, meals and counseling.
Kudos to: Pat McClain, leader at Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services
Accomplishment: Received community service award from Investment News
Details: The investment industry periodical honored McClain, co-founder of Hanson McClain Advisors, for his many years helping the food bank. For the last five years, he served as chairman of the food bank, which provides fresh groceries to 40,000 people each month.
