Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today:

Foggy Sacramento town: Early risers on Friday were treated to cool, moody, foggy conditions. The fog formed in the wake of a small storm on Thursday that dropped two-tenths of an inch of rain in Sacramento. Drivers were advised to slow down because in some areas visibility dropped below a quarter of a mile.

Ex-Roseville High grad arraigned: After his arrest Wednesday night in the beating death of a 66-year-old man in downtown Salem, Ore., Beau W. Smith, a Roseville High School graduate and athlete, was arraigned on a murder charge Thursday afternoon. He was denied bail, in accordance with Oregon law, and will likely remain behind bars until his case is resolved.

New depot site studied: Faced with high costs, the city of Elk Grove has decided against buying land on Elk Grove-Florin Road for a future multi-purpose depot, and instead is studying a city-owned site at the south end of town near Grant Line Road.

Grievances aired: In his Back-seat driver column, The Sacramento Bee’s Tony Bizjak writes that a phone poll by the Sacramento Area Council of Governments revealed that one-third of area residents, say traffic congestion is the biggest daily irritation. Twenty-two percent say crumbling roads and potholes are what set their teeth on edge. Then there is a group of 33 percent that says the region’s main failing is the lack of usable public transit, and biking and pedestrian options.

Suspect moved to Yolo jail: Janelle Marquez Monroy, the woman accused of murder in the fatal shooting of a Placer County sheriff’s deputy during a crime spree that also resulted in the death of a Sacramento County sheriff’s deputy, has been moved to the Yolo County jail.

Local sports: Giving up a 26-point lead, the Sacramento Kings fell to the host Memphis Grizzlies 111-110 on Thursday night.
