Foggy morning prompts advisory in Sacramento Valley
Fog formed in the Sacramento Valley on Friday morning, but dry, clear conditions were expected for most of the day and weekend.
A dense fog advisory was issued until 10 a.m. Friday because visibilities were below a quarter of a mile in many areas around Sacramento and portions of the Sierra foothills. A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be less than a quarter of a mile.
Areas of fog were most dense in the central and southern Sacramento Valley and foothills, according to the National Weather Service. Visibilities at 4 a.m.:
Marysville: three-quarters of a mile
Beale Air Force Base: a quarter of a mile
Sacramento International Airport: one-eighth of a mile
Sacramento’s Executive Airport: a quarter of a mile
Mather Field: a quarter of a mile
Grass Valley: one-eight of a mile
Lincoln: a quarter of a mile
