Sun to peek through by mid-morning: Areas of fog are expected before 10 a.m. in the Sacramento area, according to the National Weather Service. After that, expect partly sunny skies, with a high near 66 degrees.

Redistricting mulled: Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson said at Thursday night’s City Council meeting he wants to reopen the issue of council redistricting from three years ago. Specifically, the mayor said he wants UC Davis Medical Center placed into the council district that includes Oak Park.

Stronger safety urged: Concerned about potential oil spills and fires, Sacramento leaders are calling for stronger safety controls on a Phillips 66 proposal to transport crude oil via trains through Sacramento neighborhoods to the oil company’s refinery in San Luis Obispo County.

Keys to the future: Meritage Homes and Operation Homefront handed over the keys of a new house on Friday to a former U.S. Marine Corps sergeant who suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and a host of physical ailments from his two tours of duty in Iraq.
