Good morning. Here’s what you need to know today, Wednesday, Oct. 21.
McFly would have enjoyed the weather
It should be a pleasant day for time travel. In "Back to the Future Part II," Marty McFly travels to October 21, 2015. McFly would find fine weather in Sacramento with a high of 84 degrees and light breezes expected for Wednesday.
Update on West Sacramento river project
The West Sacramento City Council will hear updates on the Riveredge Apartments and retail project along the Sacramento River south of the Tower Bridge. A new design proposes more residential units and less retail space. It would have five stories and 273 units, as well as 16,271 square feet of retail. The project would include 750 feet of frontage along the River Walk. The council’s open session begins at 7 p.m., City Council Chambers, 1110 W. Capitol Ave., West Sacramento.
Roseville firefighters contract
The Roseville City Council will consider approving a new contract with Roseville Firefighters Local 1592. The last contract expired Dec. 31 and talks grew so intense that firefighters paid for an electronic billboard outside the Westfield Galleria at Roseville, the site of a large arson fire in 2010 that caused $55 million in damage. Under the new contract through 2016, firefighters would get a $500 one-time payment in November and a 3 percent increase in January. New firefighters would receive a lower cost-of-living adjustment in their pensions. The council meets in open session starting at 7 p.m., City Council Chambers, 311 Vernon St., Roseville.
