A stubborn high-pressure system will keep Sacramento-area daytime temperatures warmer than usual throughout the weekend, but the National Weather Service says there is a chance of rain by Wednesday next week.

Street closures, detours for Homecoming Parade

Street closures and detours are planned in Elk Grove as Pleasant Grove High School holds its annual homecoming parade. Road closures will be set up from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Motorists can expect traffic delays on Bradshaw Road and Bond Road. The Elk Grove Police Department will assist with traffic controls and detours during the event.

Breast cancer risk factors to be discussed

China Tolliver, a health educator and program coordinator for the Gold Country Cancer Partnership, will discuss breast cancer risk factors, myths and facts and talk about free screening options and educational resources. The free talk is scheduled from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Folsom Public Library, 411 Stafford St.

Pumpkins galore on Historic Sutter Street

The Night of 1,000 Pumpkins features 1,000 jack-o’-lanterns lit on Historic Sutter Street in Folsom. The free event, featuring trick-or-treating, outdoor movies and pumpkins, begins at 6 p.m. Children are encouraged to come in costume.
