Fine fall weather

Temperatures in Sacramento will stay above normal for late October, as the high is expected to reach near 82 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. The normal high for Oct. 24 is 74 degrees, according to the weather service.

CHP recruitment seminar planned

The California Highway Patrol Valley Division Recruitment Unit will hold a seminar for individuals in the hiring process or interested in joining the CHP. The two-hour event starts at 10 a.m. at the CHP Academy, 3500 Reed Ave., West Sacramento. The academy is a secured site, so those attending should wear casual attire and be prepared to show photo identification. Questions? Email chp201recruitment@chp.ca.gov.

Special Medical Museum tour scheduled

The Sacramento County Cemetery Advisory Commission is opening the Museum of Medical History for a special tour from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 5380 Elvas Ave., Sacramento. The commission is also inviting the public to share photographs, documents and artifacts they have from any Sacramento County historic cemetery. Public documents may be photocopied for use or donated to the museum. The commission is attempting to develop a more complete history and create an archive of documents and artifacts.

Chinese builders documentary at library

Award-winning filmmaker and author Bill George will screen his documentary celebrating the Chinese pioneers of California in “Chinese Builders of Gold Mountain” at the Folsom Public Library, 411 Stafford St. The 1 p.m. program will offer a virtual tour and discussion of Chinese Gold Rush sites, temples, historic levies and the Chinese contribution to California history.

Things to do

▪ The Lodi-Tokay Rotary Club will host the 10th annual Lodi Oktoberfest, American Legion Hall, 320 N Washington St, Lodi, from 5:30 to 11 p.m. German band and Oktoberfest games are on tap along with food and drink, including chicken schnitzel, bratwurst, pickled red cabbage and hot German potato salad. Entry is $10.

▪ Rocklin will hold its sixth annual Family Fall Festival, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Johnson-Springview Park, 5480 Fifth St., Rocklin. The free event will include a costume parade, face painting, bounce houses and pumpkin patch.
