Accomplishment: Donated $1,500 to Mustard Seed School
Details: When Cheer Sacramento performs at an event, the cheerleaders take along buckets to receive the donations from spectators. Money raised goes to support organizations such as Mustard Seed School, established in 1989 to meet the needs of homeless children.
Kudos to: Sewing Circle, part of Bread of Life community nonprofit
Accomplishment: Donated handmade pillowcases
Details: Sewing Circle offers a gathering place for women in the Del Paso Boulevard neighborhood, some of them recovering from drug abuse. Circle members create pillowcases with inspirational messages for groups including women’s shelters and recovery houses.
Kudos to: City of Sacramento
Accomplishment: Top-ranked for enhancing the public’s online access
Details: e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government ranked the city in the top 15 in its population class. The city notes that residents can find meaningful data on one Web page, create reports and download information, including building permit activity, crime reports and budget information.
