A celebration of life is scheduled for Wednesday on the UC Davis campus for former Chancellor Larry N. Vanderhoef.
Vanderhoef, 74, died Oct. 15 of complications from ischemic strokes. He served as chancellor for 15 years until his retirement in 2009.
The program begins at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts. A reception will follow on Vanderhoef Quad.
The UC Davis Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Mozart and Beethoven. Vanderhoef’s daughter, Susanne, will sing an aria.
Speakers include Vanderhoef’s wife of 52 years, Rosalie; Chancellor Linda P.B. Katehi, who succeeded Vanderhoef; Robert Grey and Virginia Hinshaw, who served as provost and executive vice chancellor under Vanderhoef; Zuhair Munir, former dean of the College of Engineering; Robert Segar, assistant vice chancellor; Seth Merewitz, student-body president during Vanderhoef’s tenure; and Brice Harris, California Community Colleges chancellor.
