It’s Election Day for some voters in El Dorado County, where three local measures are on the ballot. The Placerville Union School District is asking voters to approve $3.2 million in bonds for technology upgrades (Measure B); the Cosumnes River Community Services District is seeking a $100 annual parcel tax increase for roads (Measure D); and the El Dorado Hills Community Services District has an advisory vote asking whether the county should rezone a former golf course to allow development (Measure E).

New gym at California Middle School
The Sacramento City Unified School District will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony and pep rally to celebrate a renovated $3.1 million gym at California Middle School in Land Park. The bond-funded project includes 2,500 additional square feet, LED lighting, a new HVAC system, a new wood floor and a wireless scoreboard.
Just three days after Halloween, tree trimmers will set up the state Christmas tree on the west lawn of Capitol Park. The tree is scheduled to arrive between 10 and 11 a.m. from Latour Demonstration State Forest near Redding. The Department of General Services for the next several days will hang ornaments made by developmentally disabled children and adults.
Placer County considers hotel loan
The Placer County Board of Supervisors will consider applying for a $1.6 million Community Development Block Grant to help developers of a proposed 127-room Marriott chain hotel near Interstate 80 in the Bowman area. The county would provide a low-interest, 20-year loan that would fund furniture, fixtures, equipment and inventory. The item is scheduled for 9:15 a.m., County Administrative Center, 175 Fulweiler Ave., Auburn.
Crooked Lane expansion on table
The Auburn Planning Commission will consider a design review permit for Crooked Lane Brewing Company, at 536 Grass Valley Highway, formerly the site of a Nissan car dealership. The brewery plans to build a 1,500-square-foot addition and seeks a permit that would allow for up to three food trucks and on-site events. The hearing starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall, 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn.
