Twin Rivers considers contracts for after-school support

Twin Rivers Unified School District’s board of trustees will consider contracts for Supplemental Education Services at its meeting at 6 p.m. at its headquarters, 5115 Dudley Blvd. in North Highlands. The SES program offers tutoring, remediation and other educational interventions provided outside the regular school day.

Fine fall weather

Another breezy day is forecast for Sacramento. Weather forecasters say that winds from the north will blow at around 12 mph and the high on Wednesday is predicted to be 66 degrees. Windy conditions and cool temperatures should make for a good day to put on a sweater and take a long walk.

UC Davis open house looks at regenerative medicine

The UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine will host an open house from 5:30 to 8 p.m. in Gladys Valley Hall. Researchers will talk about regenerative-medicine projects underway at the Veterinary Institute for Regenerative Cures. UC Davis is at One Shields Avenue in Davis.

Sasha Abramsky to discuss latest book

The Sacramento Public Library hosts author Sasha Abramsky, who will discuss his most recent work, “The House of Twenty Thousand Books.” The book focuses on the author’s grandfather, Chimen Abramsky, a bibliophile who amassed a vast collection of socialist literature and Jewish history. The free event is scheduled at 6 p.m. at Ella K. McClatchy Library, 2112 22nd St., Sacramento.
