A pedestrian has been struck and killed by a light rail train at Routier Road near Folsom Boulevard, Sacramento Regional Transit officials said.
The incident occurred at about 3:05 p.m. Monday. RT officials said the man was walking north on Routier Road and stepped in front of the train.
It is the third instance involving pedestrians hit by trains in the Rancho Cordova area in recent weeks. In mid-November, a 15-year-old was struck when crossing the tracks at a pedestrian passage, and a week later a man was killed when he reportedly lay down on the tracks in front of a train, transit officials said.
Regional Transit implemented bus bridge service from the Butterfield station to the Mather Field/Mills station on the Gold Line. Service resumed shortly before 5 p.m., according to an RT announcement on Twitter.
