Accomplishment: Selected as California Academy of Family Physicians member of the month
Details: Honored for dedication to patient care, teaching family medicine residents and working on laws that govern health care.
Kudos to: Rodney Robinson, Masoud Soudani and Sheryl Longsworth
Accomplishment: Raised $2,000 for family of Mariah Burgess, the Cordova High School teen hit and killed Nov. 13 by a light-rail train
Details: Proceeds from sales at Soudani’s Straw Hat Pizza parlor on Mather Field Road went to the Burgess family. Robinson, a friend of the family, publicized the event, and Longsworth, Cordova Parent Teacher Student Association president, organized the fundraiser.
Kudos to: Leroy Greene Academy Bike Club
Accomplishment: Got bumpy bike trail fixed
Details: The middle school students sought to get a bad section of a privately maintained trail on the west side of Interstate 5 between Interstate 80 and El Camino Avenue fixed. The city of Sacramento responded, and worked with the bike path’s owners to get the trail fixed.
