Power restored to thousands of SMUD customers in south Sacramento
About 14,000 customers in south Sacramento lost electric power for about an hour Monday morning, according to the Sacramento Municipal Utility District.
The power outage occurred when a major distribution line failed, said Jonathon Tudor, a SMUD spokesman.
“When a line fails like that, we can restore power, but we have to reroute around that damaged area,” Tudor said, adding that the damage was not weather-related.
Electricity was cut about 6:51 a.m. and restored to all customers by 7:50 a.m., officials said. The outage centered on the area of Franklin Boulevard, north of Laguna Boulevard, according to a map on SMUD’s website.
