Today in Sacramento: Here’s what you need to know for Wednesday

Community forums in Elk Grove

The Florin Resource Conservation District is hosting community forums Wednesday and Thursday to seek input from the public regarding how the district can best serve a growing community. The interactive meetings take place from 6 to 8 p.m., and those attending will be encouraged to share ideas and ask questions. The events are scheduled Wednesday at Splash Center, 4426 Excelsior Road, Elk Grove; and Thursday at Elk Grove Library, 8900 Elk Grove Blvd.

A fine fall day

With the colors on the trees changing and the weather expected to be mild, it’s a good day for a walk. The gingkos are on their way to bright yellow and the maples are taking on a reddish hue as the cold nights provide the perfect conditions for leaves to change colors. The high Wednesday in Sacramento is expected to be 66 degrees.

Wellness Fair planned in Folsom

Healthy Folsom, a free health and wellness fair, is planned from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lakeside Church, 745 Oak Ave. Parkway, Folsom. UC Davis summit will focus on El Niño

The UC Davis Center for Watershed Sciences will present an El Niño summit featuring federal, state and local experts who will discuss the challenges and opportunities if the state gets heavy precipitation this winter. Experts will also discuss where the effects will be felt most and what steps can be taken now. The event takes place from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m., Alpha Gamma Rho room, Walter A. Buehler Alumni Center, 530 Alumni Lane, UC Davis.

Roseville to examine study for sports complex

The Roseville City Council and local businesses are continuing to move forward on a large sports complex in west Roseville that would draw major tournaments and tourism dollars. The City Council will consider on its non-discussion calendar paying $70,415 to ICF Jones & Stokes for an initial environmental study. The council meets at 7 p.m., City Council Chambers, 311 Vernon St.

  • The UC Davis Early Music Ensemble will perform a range of vocal music at its show “Lamentations and Temptations: English Sacred and Profane.” The performance starts at 7 p.m. at The Episcopal Church of Saint Martin, 640 Hawthorn Lane, Davis. A suggested donation is $10 for students and children, $20 for adults.
  • The conservation and education nonprofit Wild Things will bring live animals to Elk Grove Library, 3:30 p.m., 8900 Elk Grove Blvd.
