Showers are predicted for Wednesday after a soaking rain Tuesday night.

Almost an inch of rain was recorded in south Sacramento on Tuesday, nearly all of it coming after the sun went down. A record 0.99 inches fell at Sacramento Executive Airport, barely eclipsing the previous all-time high of 0.98 inches set in 2002.

The rainfall total for the season stands at 8.84 inches, which is 159 percent of normal. Sacramento has received 6.63 inches of rain so far in December.

While occasional showers are forecast for Sacramento on Wednesday, Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny. A little rain returns on Friday, but then the weekend weather is predicted to be clear for Christmas shopping.

Elk Grove: 0.47

Rancho Cordova: 0.67
