Cold and dry weather

While light snow was falling in the Sierra, prompting chain controls on Interstate 80 and Highway 50 Monday morning, the Sacramento area was mostly dry. The National Weather Service expects mostly sunny skies through the remainder of the year. Below-freezing temperatures will continue in the early morning hours in Sacramento.

Winter fun downtown

The wintry weather is ideal for skating at the Downtown Sacramento Holiday Ice Rink. At Seventh and K streets, the rink is open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Go to http://godowntownsac.com for more information.

Online search help for seniors

A Cyber Senior computer class teaching participants how to search the Internet is scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Arthur F. Turner Community Library, 1212 Merkley Ave., West Sacramento. Global Winter Wonderland

The light-filled holiday celebration known as Global Winter Wonderland continues at Cal Expo, running from 3 to 10 p.m. The park features rides, an ice-skating rink and the Worlds of Light exhibition with giant illuminated animals and buildings. Go to www.globalwonderland.org for more information.
